High quality African arts, crafts and curios for the hospitality industry
Sally and Frank Clayton were asked some 15 years ago by Operation Hunger to find new markets for the skilled Zulu villagers that produce Zulu pots, baskets, beadwork and many other curio's that are made from natural materials and are made by traditional methods learnt over hundreds of years.
The Operation Hunger initiative produced an initial small workforce of
53 craftsmen and women. Today Operation Hunger has gone, but its legacy
and vision has flourished. There are now over 1800 people from all over
KwaZulu Natal that produce high quality crafts which Sally and Frank
continue to market and sell, under the name of "African Collections".
On offer in the African Collections Warehouse in Durban North are the
works of some of Africa's best known artists and craftsmen, including the master Zulu potter, Nesta Nala, whose skill has become World Renowned and has taught her daughters, Bongi,Jabu,Thembi,Nonhlanhla and Zanele all to make pots to her high standard.  Shona Art in stone together with masks from all over Africa. African Collections has a very wide range of products.
The African Collections Warehouse is well worth a visit to find that unusual and
special gift that is traditional but has practical modern use.
